About Mood Swings and Milestones

Midlife isn’t a crisis — it’s a comeback. Mood Swings and Milestones was created as a space for real talk about the messy, funny, and transformative parts of midlife and menopause. Here, we mix humor with honesty, mindset shifts with self-care, and a good dose of “you’re not alone in this.”

Founded by sisters Jess and Mandy, Mood Swings and Milestones is proof that even when life takes you in different directions — California and Wisconsin, in our case — laughter, support, and sisterhood keep everything grounded.

Meet Jess — Founder & Midlife Cheerleader

Hi, I’m Jess — the voice behind Mood Swings and Milestones. I’m soaking up life here in sunny California as a soon-to-be empty nester, devoted dog mom, and full-time caregiver to my wonderful aunt… oh, and a proud midlife mess in progress.

I created this space to share the real (and sometimes ridiculous) side of menopause and midlife — the hot flashes, mood swings, mindset shifts, and all the moments that make us laugh and cry at the same time.

Whether you’re here for midlife tips, self-care ideas, or just proof you’re not the only one Googling “why am I sweating and crying at the same time,” you’re in the right place.

Meet Mandy — Writer & Resident Wordsmith

Hi, I’m Mandy — the writer behind many of the stories here at Mood Swings and Milestones. I live in Wisconsin with my boyfriend and our two Pitbull's, where caffeine fuels my creativity and writing doubles as my favorite form of therapy (and it’s way cheaper).

I write about the beautiful chaos of midlife — the hot flashes, the mood swings, the “who even am I anymore?” moments — with a mix of humor, honesty, and heart. If my words make you laugh, nod, or feel a little less alone in this midlife madness, then I’m doing my job right.
